The Charred Wall Art encompasses 3 Chinese characters that represent the phrase ‘Shou Sugi Ban’ which is Smoke’s Signature technique. To retain and give respect to traditional Chinese culture and practices, this phrase is read from the left to the right. This wooden slab adorns a live edge appearance by retaining its natural and organic form. It is further fully charred to give it a refined charcoal effect. The carvings are engraved into the wood and painted with a rich gold colour. This signature piece was utilised as the signboard for the very first Smoke outlet at Opal Crescent.
